Design and complete renovation of an apartment in Mets
We met Eleni, in her flat in Pagrati, which she would like to renovate as a new start for her daughter, who was coming soon as a first year university student in Athens.
Plan layout design
The 50sqm apartment had an entrance space, living room, bedroom, separate room for the kitchen and a bathroom. It is located in a 1970s building in the center of Pagrati.
The apartment was functional with the existing layout, but needed an aesthetic update, also the bathroom was quite small with no storage spaces.
As a result, we kept the course space functions as they were, but we enlarged the living room by removing the entrance wall.
We also enlarged the bathroom towards the bedroom which had some extra space.
Aesthetics
Eleni had a very interesting taste and wanted us to choose all the materials with care and love.
We chose together with Eleni, laminate flooring in a shade of light oak, for the bedroom, the living room and for the corridor. In the bedroom we also replaced the wardrobe with a sliding built-in custom made closet, and added linear LED lights inside.
In the kitchen we installed light-colored cabinets combined with a counter and hanging cabinets in a wood effect to match the laminate floor we installed in the rest of the apartment.
We also chose gray tiles for the kitchen floor and for the backsplash above the counter.
We installed the same tiles on the walls and floor of the bathroom.
We made a built-in counter with a large cabinet underneath and a free-standing washbasin.
On the wall behind the counter we created a special detail with a glossy deep green long tile.
We mounted it vertically and lit it from the ceiling and from the round mirror to bring out its beautiful texture.
We also added a cupboard for the washing machine behind the bathroom door, in a similar shade to the wall tile so that it doesn’t stand out too much.
The black taps and accessories we chose completed the set very well.
Finally Eleni was inspired by our architectural proposal and chose great pieces of furniture that completed the project.
