Complete renovation of a house in Kypseli.
Apostolos and Tonia definitely wanted a house in the centre of the city, with a particular preference for Kypseli.
We started looking at houses together, with the aim of helping them with the technical evaluation of the spaces.
After many viewings, we settled on a penthouse in an old urban residential building near the lively central square of Kypseli.
For the design proposal, the owners contracted Stavropoulou Architects. The 100 sqm apartment initially had an entrance hall, living room, two bedrooms, kitchen, bathroom and storage room. It was decided to completely change the layout* and knock down all the walls.
*The changes in interior layout led us to issue a minor works planning permission.
The house was redesigned from the ground up to create a main large, open and bright space in the middle of the flat which will be used as a living, dining and kitchen area. The bedroom was created as a continuation of the large main space and we separated it with industrial glass doors. The former kitchen became a cloakroom and the bathroom was moved into the former storage room, which was enlarged.
We chose oak laminate flooring throughout the house to highlight the flow of the spaces.
In the bathroom, we installed tiles with a cement effect on the floor and the walls of the shower, while the other walls were painted with a special waterproof paint in white and blue.
In the cloakroom, large wardrobes were built on the two walls, providing space for the washing machine and the dryer.
For the kitchen, we chose black matte acrylic surfaces combined with a black ceramic sink, and a built-in refrigerator to keep the space simple and uniform with minimum materials on show.
A new natural gas heating system was also installed.
Apostoli and Tonia, thank you very much for your trust and we hope you are enjoying your new home.
